For 2024, the Mazda MX-30 will maintain the momentum it has experienced with its all-electric version. It should receive a few minor updates, most of them esthetic in nature, both on the outside and on the inside. One of these will have to do with the two-tone exterior paint color combinations. As for the cabin, there’s no reason to believe that it won’t remain as chic and ergonomic as ever.
In the GS and GT versions, the subcompact SUV features a 35.5 kWh battery that enables the electric motor to generate 143 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque. On a full charge, it offers a range of 161 kilometers. It’s likely that there will be just as much standard equipment on the 2024 version as on the previous model. In particular, this includes 18-inch alloy wheels, G-Vectoring Control, LED headlights, an eight-speaker sound system, heated seats and steering wheel, Smart City Brake Support and numerous other safety technologies (especially on the GT version).
It’s possible that consumers will have the option of getting their 2024 Mazda MX-30 in a plug-in hybrid version. If so, it would be available alongside the current MX-30. It would feature a battery cut in half (17.8 kWh) providing a range of approximately 80 km in all-electric mode. However, since the vehicle would also include an 830 cc rotary engine (to charge the battery), its overall range would be more than sufficient for long trips. The power of the drivetrain would increase to 168 hp with 192 lbf·ft of torque. Nevertheless, Mazda has yet to confirm the arrival of this MX-30 e-SKYACTIV R-EV (with range-extender) on Canadian soil.
In any event, Mazda intends to invest heavily in electrifying all of the vehicles (including SUVs) that it sells in North America. The automaker plans to offer no fewer than nine EV models between now and 2025 and, in the medium term, intends to develop a dedicated platform (“SKYACTIV Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture”). The Mazda MX-30 may soon benefit from this development.
In the meantime, feel free to discover all the features of the current MX-30.
