The 2024 CX-30 is still Mazda’s entry-level subcompact SUV. However, with a refined design, superior-quality assembly and workmanship, and available high-performance powertrain, there’s nothing “discount” about it. In fact, the CX-30 perfectly embodies the philosophy of the automaker, which aims to position it among the ranks of its premium products.
For the 2024 model year, the CX-30 continues to offer a lot for its price. The respective MSRPs for the GX, GS and GT Turbo versions are $27,050, $29,350 and $38,950. This puts them at a distinct advantage vis-a-vis their direct competitors in the luxury subcompact category.
The 2024 Mazda CX-30 comes standard with all-wheel drive and a choice of two good engines: a 2.5 L inline-four (191 hp/186 lbf·ft) for the GX, GS and GT models and a 2.5 L inline-four turbo (250 hp/320 lbf·ft when running on Super gasoline) for the GT Turbo. These SKYACTIV engines, as well as the six-speed automatic transmission, are more reliable and efficient than the previous 2.0 L inline-four, which the automaker has retired. The proof is in the relatively good mileage figures, ranging from 7.1 to 9.0 liters per 100 km, notably in the GX and GS models.
Another new development for 2024 is the introduction of the Suna Edition. This version includes all of the standard equipment found in the GT Turbo, in addition to an exclusive Zircon Sand Metallic body color and Terracotta leatherette and black suede-trimmed seats. Incidentally, there have been some revisions to the exterior paint colors of the other versions, as well.
Driving pleasure is yet another unique asset of the 2024 Mazda CX-30. In the GS version, which, in terms of equipment, represents an excellent value for the money, a chic cabin (with topstitching, leather upholstery, bicolor accents, etc.) further enhances that pleasure, as do the numerous standard comfort and safety features. These notably include blind spot monitoring, a smart key, smart brake support, Mazda radar cruise control, a heated steering wheel, automatic climate control and a windshield wiper de-icer. A touchscreen and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity complete the picture.
