The all-new compact SUV designed for the adventurous has finally been unveiled! On November 15, 2021, the 2022 Mazda CX-50 made its grand entrance all around the world. Slightly larger than the CX-5, a little wider and lower, the CX-50 is better suited for off-roading. This is the first time that Mazda has gone in this direction. So it’s no wonder that those who love to venture off the beaten path are eager to discover this new SUV.
The interior of the 2022 Mazda CX-50 is every bit as luxurious as that of all the other Mazda models, with a streamlined dashboard, vertical air vents and available leather seats with topstitching. Five passengers can travel in comfort, in addition to enjoying a new cabin color, “terra cotta,” which further highlights the luminosity of the CX-50. The new exterior color is well chosen to become one with nature: a virtually matte grey-green that plays off the grey rocker panels and wheel housing. Finally, a new style of headlights quickly distinguishes the CX-50 from the CX-5.
The 2022 Mazda CX-50 offers two known powertrains: a 2.5 L engine with an estimated 186 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque and an available 2.5 L turbo engine delivering 250 hp and 310 lbf·ft of torque. Regardless of which powertrain you choose, all-wheel drive comes standard in North America and now features two additional Mazda Intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) drive modes: Off-Road and Towing. In Off-Road mode, the CX-50 perfectly adjusts to road conditions. It can adapt the vehicle’s operational parameters to ensure a smooth, confident ride, whether on snow, ice, mud, sand, a dirt road or an uneven surface.
