Mazda’s Sustainable Zoom-Zoom 2030 Vision

Solutionmazda 2030

On August 8, prompted by the frenetic pace of changes in the automotive industry, Mazda announced its new technology development program, “Sustainable Zoom-Zoom 2030”, which defines how Mazda draws inspiration from the fundamental appeal of the automobile and the experience of driving it to help solve the problems faced by our planet and our society.

With the goal of creating a sustainable future, during the course of this program, Mazda anticipates launching the SKYACTIV-X motor, the world’s first compression ignition engine, in hopes of reducing carbon dioxide emissions in its entire fleet of vehicles over the long term. Combustion of the air-fuel mixture, which is normally ignited by the spark plugs, will be achieved by compressing the mixture in the piston, much like a diesel engine does. This new powertrain will combine the advantages of fuel and diesel engines to offer remarkable power, environmental performance and acceleration.

Mazda also hopes to further refine its advanced safety technologies and enhance the fundamental rules in this area, in accordance with its Proactive Safety Philosophy, to progressively eliminate traffic accidents by improving pedal design, driver visibility and driver awareness of the potential road hazards around the vehicle.

In the interests of contributing to the creation of a better tomorrow through its increasingly advanced technologies, Mazda is continuing its efforts to perfect an internal combustion engine that produces fewer carbon dioxide emissions. The manufacturer also has plans to introduce electric vehicles, as well as autonomous driving technologies, in the market in the not-too-distant future in order to reduce the ecological footprint of its vehicles to a minimum.
