Considering that the look of the 2020 Mazda CX-9 is still fresh and unique, there was no reason to make any significant changes to this vehicle, which remains a favorite of motorists.
It debuted in late 2015 and has maintained its popularity ever since. Despite a few minor updates, the 2020 Mazda CX-9 features the same tried-and-true style.
On the outside, it’s nearly identical to the model that has been the envy of its rivals—the Chevrolet Traverses, Ford Explorers and Honda Pilots of the world—for years.
The driving pleasure it has always offered still surpasses that of the competition. Easily. It isn’t always easy to maneuver a seven-seat SUV. But despite its imposing dimensions, the Mazda CX-9 handles beautifully.
The passenger compartment of the current CX-9 is almost ridiculously luxurious, especially at the Signature trim level. In the previous year’s model, the addition of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay was announced with great fanfare. These improvements, as well as a new 360° camera, are in line with the features available in its competitors. You can expect to find all of this and more in the the new Mazda CX-9.
Considering the absence of any major changes in the 2020 Mazda CX-9, we aren’t expecting to see any particular additions under the hood. As it is, the 2.5 L four-cylinder turbo engine produces 250 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque when the tank is filled with premium gasoline. If you choose to go the inexpensive route and use regular gasoline, the horsepower will drop slightly to 227, but the torque will remain the same.
As the saying goes, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” The Mazda CX-9 is already a spectacular vehicle. So why change a winning formula?
