The new 2019 Mazda 3 has a promising future ahead. Equipped with the new SKYACTIV-X engine, this sedan maintains the driving philosophy common to all Mazdas: “jinba ittai”, which describes how a horse and rider become one. Soon to be available at Solution Mazda in Châteauguay, the 2019 Mazda 3 will offer the elegance and power of a luxury vehicle, but at nowhere near the price.
One of the most important features of the new 2019 Mazda 3 is its 2.0-liter SKYACTIV-X engine. Protected by various patents, this revolutionary motor under the hood of the 2019 Mazda 3 will soon conclude a final round of testing, revealing the exact figures regarding its power. For now, it’s estimated that the torque will be 10 to 30 percent higher than that delivered by the 2.0-liter SKYAVTIV-G gas engine found in previous Mazda 3 models. Fuel economy will also be improved by an estimated 20 to 30 percent, on top of acceleration that promises to be even more energetic. How did the 2019 Mazda 3 with its new engine manage this feat? Let’s just say that Mazda engineers decided to take a concept that’s been abandoned by most other manufacturers and push it further.
The SKYACTIV-X engine in the new 2019 Mazda 3 combines the advantages of compression ignition and internal combustion. To be more precise, the engineers have lowered the compression ratio as much as possible and then use a kernel of rich air near the spark plug to ignite the mixture. In a nutshell, the SKYACTIV-X motor is a gas engine in which compression ignition is initiated by a spark plug. Internal combustion is necessary during acceleration, but at constant speeds, the compression ignition no longer needs the help of the spark plugs to ignite the mixture. The result? Reduced fuel consumption, less knocking than a typical diesel engine, and practically zero nitrogen oxide production, thanks to a reduction in the heat that would normally result from full spark plug ignition.
The new 2019 Mazda 3 has been designed to provide the driver with a more exhilarating experience. We’re talking about seats that are firmly anchored to the body, sustaining the driver’s pelvis in a more stable position, a reinforced chassis that improves torsional rigidity by 30 percent, a 10 percent reduction in the spring rate of the tires so the driver no longer feels every little dip and bump in the road, shock absorbers that are better aligned with the suspension motion, and so on. All of this allows the 2019 Mazda 3 to relay road information instantaneously to the driver, who can then relay his or her intentions more quickly to the vehicle.
